Haven’t updated post for a while, because of midterms and I’m too lazy… But anyway, I’ll try to summerize those things I found interesting in today’s post.
Started watching ゆるキャン△. Such kind of relaxing anime has always suit my taste.
Finished watching お兄ちゃんはおしまい!. I like it very much: this anime is kind of similar to らき☆すた in my perspective.
My mom gave me a pair of unused HiVi speakers, which has a great performance in High Mid Frequency (vocals, acoustic guitar, etc).
I’ve never owned speakers or really listened to music through them before. As a result, the sound stage that the speakers presented was unprecedentedly large for me, even comparing to my Sennheiser IE 900.
You see, I mainly listen to metal, jazz and rock. So my favorite tuning is always a V-shape. After I configured a smiley face EQ on Apple Music, the music it presented was just freakingly good for me: It felt as if a whole choir is singing in front of me when listening to Death Empress by Disembodied Tyrant and Synestia.
I’ll buy myself a pair of studio monitors when I owned my own house…
I was discussing the song to practice with my band member tonight, and it ultimately ended up to being Crystal Mountain by Death.
I was afraid that I couldn’t play it through at first, but after just a night of practice I’ve managed to do the lead harmony as well as the vocals – what a surprise on my progress in guitar skills! (The lead harmony guitar is not that much difficult though).
I think that my irreplaceable skill in my band is my vocals: After half a year of occasional practice, some weird talent out of nowhere and a huge portion of luck, I managed to get a handle on fry screams, Black metal shriek, Hardcore raspy vocals, pig squeal etc – basically all kinds of high-pitched extreme vocals.
I suppose I’ll practice more low-pitched ones like false-chord. It has been the one that I wanted to master first, but Black metal shrieks ironically ended up being the first extreme vocals technique I mastered.
I’ve been repeatedly listening to Little Umbrellas by Frank Zappa recently: Its bass is incredible!
I wanted to play it out, only to realize that I only have a guitar. But nevermind! You know what? I have a Hotone Ampero Stomp, which has an effect block called “Classic PS” – a pitch shifter.
Hence, all I did was shift an octave down, and my guitar had become a 7-string bass. Very nice: I can play out those deep and warm basslines on my guitar.
